Sharks are the kings of the sea. They are the most feared fish by humans and neighboring fish alike. However, sharks have gotten a bad reputation from movies like jaws and all the shark attack news stories we see on TV. In reality, sharks are a group of fish that feature a completely cartilage skeleton. They have no bones like humans but their hard bodies are made of cartilage like we have in our noses. They have a streamlined body with 5 to 7 gills on each side of or slightly behind their head. Sharks can be dangerous however if blood is in the water. Sharks have very keen olfactory sensors which allows some species to sense up to one part per million of blood in the sea water that they swim in.
Sharks have excellent sense which allow to them to hunt their prey well. They use lateral lines in their sides to sense movement in the water along with an excellent sense of smell. Along with this they also use special sensory pores on their heads to sense electrical fields made by their prey and the ambient electrical fields that the ocean has.
